Adoption Process
If you see a dog or puppy and would like to start the process of saving a rescued animal – please click here to fill out our adoption application.
The application will be processed by an adoption counselor. We will make contact with you to answer any questions you may have and review your application. Incomplete applications will not be considered, as the information you give us on your application is essential in determining the compatibility of the dog you have requested with your life-style.
At this time, we will also conduct a vet reference to determine the health of your past and current animals. ALL potential adoptive families must have up-to-date veterinary records on all pets currently residing in the home. We believe for health and temperament reasons that it is in the best interest of the dog to be spay or neutered at the appropriate age. We will not adopt a dog into a home if the current dog(s) are not spay or neutered. However, we will work with you to provide resources and education to spay or neuter your dog. After completing the spay/neuter process, we will review your application again.
If your application is approved, a volunteer will contact you to arrange an appointment for you to meet the dog or puppy you are interested in adopting as well as conduct a home visit. Diamonds in the Ruff charges a small fee to adopt a pet. This fee helps cover the cost of caring for the dogs, initial vet examination (medical attention if necessary) and preparing them for adoption.
(The adoption fee for an approved application is $125.00)
** Applicants must be 21 years of age or older to adopt.
** Fenced in yard required for all adoptions.
(For the welfare of our rescue dogs and for our own peace of mind, we require a fenced in yard so our rescue dogs have the room to run and exercise within the safety of a secure fenced in area.)
All of our dogs are adopted on a two-week trial period. If at any time during those two weeks you feel you cannot fulfill your commitment, we will refund your adoption fee and take the dog back into our care. If at any time during the dog's life you cannot fulfill your commitment, you will be required to return the dog to Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue.
**Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue reserves the right to refuse adoption to any applicant**
